St. Louis SC might be an expansion team, but this group of players has already got Citypark – St. Louis rocking with how they have taken to MLS play. The newest team in town is well worth a watch – be sure to get your tickets from Immortal Seats with no hidden fees – and they have a number of games upcoming on the schedule worth checking out. The first of those is this Saturday as the first ever “Heartland Derby” in MLS sees St. Louis CitySC hosting Sporting Kansas City. Other matches to check out include the visit of Inter Miami CF on July 15 (will they have Lionel Messi in their side??) and a top-of-the-table clash with Los Angeles FC on September 20.

Has the shine worn off?
St. Louis City SC has stunned the U.S. soccer landscape with its start to life as a club. Expansion sides are not meant to be successful – no matter the sport – so the fact this team sits third in the Western Conference is an outstanding achievement. The worry – as much as it can be a worry for an expansion team – is that the last three results have not gone their way.
A 5-1 win over Union Omaha in the U.S. Open Cup in late April has been followed by three straight defeats. Two of those were in MLS play, with a home defeat at the hands of the Portland Timbers being followed by a road reverse against the Chicago Fire. It could just be a wobble, so it makes the game this weekend against Sporting Kansas City fascinating. Sporting has had the opposite season to St. Louis City, as they are bottom of the table but have been much better as of late, winning two games on the bounce. The result of this match will say plenty about each side and their 2023 prospects.
