Launching a new album often coincides with a band going on tour, especially in a world where streaming and digital downloads have nerfed album sales and driven high-street record stores out of business. Greta Van Fleet is taking this approach, announcing a World Tour that will take place after the release of their new album on July 21st.
The “Starcatcher” tour – named after the album it is alongside – kicks off its North American leg in Nashville at the Bridgestone Arena on July 24th. This is a pure arena tour – a fact that shows the pull of the band – with shows at places like the Toyota Center in Houston, Allstate Arena in Chicago, and Madison Square Garden in New York City over the course of the fall. The last North American show before the band moves on to Europe is on September 23rd at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland.

The Nashville starting spot is important for this tour, as Starcatcher was recorded in the city. Greta Van Fleet has already released a couple of tracks from the album, with ‘Meeting The Masyter’ having been met with widespread critical claim and ‘Sacred The Thread’ likely to follow suit. Fans of the band will appreciate the softer sound of these tracks, with ‘Meeting The Master’ in particular sitting in that folksy/rock sound that Led Zeppelin were known for, building to an epic climax in a way that the band that has so inspired their sound would be proud to have written themselves.
Support on the tour should be outstanding, too, with Kaleo covering the dates through August and Surf Curse joining the boys for their second hit in September.
