Ed Sheeran is a busy man. He is currently performing his “Mathmatics” tour, a 21-date stadium epic that will draw from his Plus, Multiply, Divide, Equals, and Subtract Albums. That would be all his albums since 2011, featuring a 26-song greatest hits set at its first show in Dallas.
While that would be plenty for most artists, Sheeran also has a sneaky little side tour going on. His ‘Subtract’ tour sees Sheeran playing his new album in its entirety alongside a live band in smaller, more intimate venues. The dates for this tour run alongside “Mathematics,” with the first being at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, FL, on May 19. Venues hit include History in Toronto, ON, the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, and the Paramount Theatre in Seattle, WA. The tour concludes on September 22 with a gig at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA.

Sheeran’s fifth studio album is Subtract, released on May 5, 2023. This album is the reason for the ‘Mathematics’ tour in the first place, so it is a cool bonus that Sheeran is adding these intimate shows as he moves around the country. With this being mainly an acoustic album, the venues chosen are perfect for fans of the singer to get up close and personal to enjoy his music the way it is meant to be presented. Many of the songs from the album would get drowned out with shows in huge arenas, and Sheeran is clearly thinking of his hand by putting this on.
