It seems to be the season for major tour announcements. Creed announced their 2024 tour recently, and now another rock band that was massive in the 90s – albeit with more staying power than Creed – has announced their own summer tour next year.
Green Day will hit the road for five months in 2024, playing a North American leg before heading overseas. The US portion is supported by The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, and The Little Lindas, and it begins on Monday, July 29, at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. The tour hits plenty of baseball fields among its venues, with gigs at places like Fenway Park in Boston on August 7, Wrigley Field in Chicago on August 13, and PNC Park in Pittsburgh on September 1. The final announced date in North America is at Petco Park in San Diego on September 28.
“We’ve never been more excited to unleash new music than with Saviors, a record that’s meant to be rocked live, together. So let’s thrash. We’ve got some amazing friends who are coming along for the ride!,”
Green Day, Nov 23
This tour is in support of their 14th studio album, through 2024 is also an important year for the band as it is the 30th anniversary year of their massive album Dookie and the 20th anniversary of their 2004 comeback smash American Idiot album.
