One of the biggest jukebox musical hits on Broadway will be touring for the first time in 2023 – and into 2024 – as MJ – The Musical hits the road. Broadway shows will continue at the Neil Simon Theatre, but beginning with a month-long run at the James M. Nederlander Theater in Chicago on August 1, the rest of the country will soon get to take in all the Moonwalking, dancing, and classic hits of the legendary Michael Jackson.
Other venues that get the Michael Jackson experience in 2023 include Peace Concert Hall in Greenville, SC, the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, and the year will end with the show in L.A. at the Pantages Theatre over both Christmas and the New Year.

A musical delayed by the Pandemic, MJ – The Musical eventually opened on Broadway on February 1, 2022. Michael Jackon’s enduring popularity – both with his generation and with younger adults – has made the show a box office smash. The show has been nominated for ten Tony Awards, winning four of them, including Best Actor and Best Choreography. All the musical numbers you would expect are in this show. It starts strong with ‘Beat It’ and Act 1 rolls through other classics like ‘I’ll Be There,’ ‘Wanna Be Startin’ Something,’ and’ Earth Song.’ Act 2 proves just how many hits Jackson rolled through in his career, as songs like ‘Billie Jean,’ ‘Smooth Criminal,’ and Thriller’ take center stage.
