Nashville SC was only founded in 2017 but showed enough to be awarded an MLS spot in 2020. The youth of the club means that established rivalries haven’t yet developed, but their home schedule for 2023 features a number of interesting-looking clashes. These include a match against Atlanta United (a near neighbor) on Saturday, April 29, Columbus Crew in a battle of teams with similar colors on Sunday, May 28, and another match with a fairly local team when St. Louis SC visits Geodis Park on Saturday, June 17.
Here is the biggest key for Nashville SC based on their start to the 2023 season.

Can the defense remain this good?
Nashville SC is sixth in the Eastern Conference, with 11 points after eight games. The main reason for this is their outrageous defense, which has conceded the least goals in the conference comfortably. They have allowed just four goals all season and more than one in a game just once all year. If their attack were playing at the same level as the defense – it isn’t, as they have just seven goals on the season – then this team would be pushing the likes of New England and Cincinnati for the best record in the East.
The trouble will come if teams can figure out how to score on Nashville. I am not convinced their attack has the parts to become more potent, so they will have to make sure the defense stays on point throughout 2023.
