Immortal Seats bought the stars, and the fans bought the energy as New England FanFest 9 rocked the Crowne Plaza Providence-Warwick Hotel in Rhode Island last Saturday.
Trish Stratus, Dennis Rodman, and Ray Bourque were the standout names, while Immortal Seats guests Ron Simmons, Shelton Benjamin, Ash the Elegance (FKA Dana Brooke), Jimmy Hart, and Theodore R. Long were all in attendance to meet and greet with fans, sign autographs, and share their stories of the wrestling business.

Lines were long for many of the stars on show, as Stratus, in particular, was packing fans into the building. Despite waiting in line for up to two hours, the mood was exciting and fun, with groups of wrestling fans spending the time sharing their own stories of fandom as they anticipated meeting their heroes.
Wrestling figures and 8×10 photos were the most common items autoed by the stars, but more unique items were the ones they wanted to discuss most. Ron ‘Farooq’ Simmons signed an authentic program from his days at Florida State, which he seemed especially interested in, while Rodman saw the expected assortment of everything from Chicago Bulls jerseys to NWO flags.
The most unique item on display was the custom robe worn by wrestling super fan Chris Marquette. Marquette is up to 312 signatures on his one-of-a-kind item, a treasured memory piece that is – in his own words – ‘priceless.’
Anyone who has never been to a wrestling convention needs to change that. The atmosphere and feeling of being surrounded by like-minded people are like nothing else a fan will experience. Add in the chance to meet your heroes – Trish had so much time for everybody with her own energy and personality that it was truly remarkable – and there will be no Saturday better spent this year.
Immortal Seats’ next convention – the inaugural Immortal Seats Sports & Entertainment Convention – will be in Tampa, Florida, on November 9. Watch for more information on guests and tickets to release in the coming months.
