The New Orleans Saints enter 2023 with more stability than in 2022. Last season was their first in 16 years without Sean Payton as head coach, with Dennis Allen taking over after the 2021 campaign. The Saints were a slightly below-average team in 2023, though their 7-10 record meant they only missed out on the NFC South title by one game as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the crown with a losing record (8-9).
The Saints begin the 2023 season with a home game on Sunday, September 10, against the Tennessee Titnas at Caesars Superdome. Tickets for that contest can be found for around $85 for the cheapest seats through Immortal Seats, which feels like good value for an NFL game. Tickets for all three of the Saints’ divisional games can be had for the ridiculously low price of $60, while their only game this season where tickets start north of $100 is when they take on the Chicago Bears on Sunday, November 5.

Is Derek Carr the Saints’ first true franchise quarterback since Drew Brees?
Replacing Dew Brees was never going to be easy. The former Saint is perhaps the most underrated star quarterback in the league’s history, with Brees having passed 5,000 yards passing in a single season five times, more than anyone else (including Tom Brady). At his worst, Derek Carr is an above-average quarterback who will be the best single caller the Saints have had since Brees. The question is whether he can be developed this late in his career to be a good to very good quarterback, the minimum requirement for a quarterback you need to win a Super Bowl.
Carr isn’t the only question mark on offense. The Saints have still yet to figure out if Michael Thomas can be the receiver he once looked like becoming, and there are concerns about how Alvin Kamara will do when he returns to the fold after his three-game suspension. Still, this team will only go as far as Carr takes them in 2023.
