New York Giants Tickets & Burning Question

The New York Giants exceeded expectations in 2022. First-year head coach Brian Daboll led the G-Men to a 9-7-1 record and the sixth seed in the NFC playoffs. The Giants then went on the road and upset the Minnesota Vikings and, in doing so, won their first playoff contest since hoisting the Lombardi Trophy at the end of Super Bowl XLVI in 2012.

The Giants’ opening home game is massive. The rival Dallas Cowboys will be coming to MetLife Stadium on Sunday, September 10, and we will get an immediate read on how good the two teams will be in 2023. Tickets for the game are just over $200 on Immortal Seats as of writing. The Giants also have interesting home clashes this year with the stadium-sharing New York Jets (October 29), an Aaron Rodgers-less Green Bay Packers (December 10), and the potentially Super Bowl-chasing Philadelphia Eagles (Week 18).

Does Saquon Barkley play in 2023?

Running backs are not happy with the current state of the NFL. A combination of teams relying on the passing game more and the short shelf life of backs due to the pounding they take every week means the position has been completely devalued. The Giants franchised tagged Barkley to negotiate a long-term deal, but the deadline for the deal to be struck came and went without a contract being formulated. This means that Barkley would be playing the 2023 season under a tender of just above $10 million and – crucially – with no long-term deal in place at a position where attrition ends careers in an instant.

It is already ugly. Barkley has removed all mentions of the Giants from his social media and has said he is considering skipping the year. If he does, the Giants will be down their best offensive player, and their chances of making it back-to-back playoff appearances would take a massive hit.
