San Francisco 49ers Tickets & Preview:

The San Francisco 49ers will look to defend their NFC West crown this fall after their 13-4 record in 2022 saw them win the division by four games. The 49ers were wildly impressive down the stretch – also known as after they traded for elite running back Christian McCaffrey – winning their last ten games in a row to close out the regular season with a 13-4 record.

Games to watch out for at Levi’s Stadium this season include the 49ers hosting their massive 80s and 90s rivals, the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, October 8, the Seattle Seahawks – the team expected to be their closest divisional rival on Sunday, December 10, and an intriguing clash against the Baltimore Ravens of the AFC North on Christmas Day.

Who is the 49ers starting quarterback?

The 49ers had one of the worst quarterback luck seasons in NFL history in 2022. Trey Lance, the No. 3 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, started the season and made it to just Week 2 before getting hurt and not returning. Jimmy Garappolo stepped in, only to go down in Week 12 and never return. Thus put the hopes of a Super Bowl-caliber team on the shoulders of Brock Purdy, the very last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, with Purdy steering the team to win after win before getting hurt in the NFC Championship game. Josh Johnson entered at quarterback in that game, only to get hurt himself, meaning that an injury Purdy who could not throw the ball more than five yards downfield, was put back in the game. The resulting 31-7 loss was a formality before halftime.

Somehow, the quarterback situation might be even more interesting heading into 2023. Garopolo is now in Las Vegas, with the Raiders hoping he finds a way to stay healthy (something that has rarely happened to date in his career.) Lance – once the future – now appears surplus to requirements, and rumors of trades pop up every few days. This seems to leave Purdy in place as the starter, but is he good enough to win games when his elite playmakers aren’t firing?
