There are some bands that create a special level of excitement when they announce they are going on tour. Sigur Ros is one of those bands. The Icelandic post-rock trio will be touring Europe and North America this summer, and they will be bringing a 41-piece orchestra along for the ride.
The tour starts in the Northeast, with an August 14 date at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, ON, before a pair of New York Shows at the Beacon Theatre on August 16 and at Kings Theatre on August 18. There are just eight North American shows in all, with the final three being on the West Coast. An August 24 date at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle, WA, is followed by shows at the Greek Theatre U.C. Berkley on August 26 and at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on August 28.

The tour comes alongside the first album to be dropped by Sigur Ros in a decade. The album – which is yet to be titled – is expected to be released some time in June, as the tracks have been laid down with the backing of The London Contemporary Orchestra. There has been work coming from the bad – frontman Jonsi released an unexpected solo album called Obsidian in 2021 – but this will be the first full album as 2020s Odin’s Raven Magic was an orchestral LP of music recorded twenty years before its release.
