You have to get to some tours because you never know when they will happen again. The 2023 tour by The Original Misfits is certainly one that fits those criteria. It is also a tour that you will likely have to travel to catch, with the band playing just three dates in one of the most exclusive tours of the year.
The first opportunity to see The Original Misfits is on Saturday, June 24, at The Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa. The band then plays a couple of weeks later at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on Saturday, July 8, before ending their set of gigs on Saturday, July 15, at Talking Stick Resort in Phoenix.
After reuniting in 2016, original members Glenn Danzig, Jerry Only, and Doyle Wolfgang con Frankenstein have performed sporadically with the horror-punk band. There is plenty of talent in the supporting acts too, with Megadeath and Fear supporting in Tampa, The Gaslight Anthem and Fear leading off for the band in Newark, and AFI and Fear doing the job in Phoenix.
Those that don’t know The Original Misfits may have heard of some of the bands they influenced. Danzig formed a band in his own name after their first breakup, while bands like Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, and My Chemical Romance have all cited The Original Misfits as influencers on their music. Those three bands also show just how many rock/metal genres TOM cross, so anyone with any interest in that style of music should seek out this tour.
