Those missing 80s pop need to pay attention to this one as a number of acts from the decade have teamed up to put on the ‘Totally Tubular Festival Tour’ this summer. The leading act is Thomad Dolby – he of ‘She Blinded Me With Science‘ fame – but others onboard include Men Without Hats, Modern English, and Thompson Twins frontman Tom Bailey.
The tour hits 17 cities across North America, from the first stop at the Santa Barbara Bowl in Santa Barbara, CA on June 28 through the final gig at Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, OH, on July 27. Other venues that the tour hits of note include 713 Music Hall in Houston, TX (July 10), MGM Music Hall at Fenway Park in Boston, MA (July 17), and The Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York, NY (July 18.)
Personally, the act I would be most interested in seeing here is Men Without Hats and their biggest hit ‘The Safety Dance‘. It is also worth noting that the legendary Tommy Tutone – he of that all timer of an 80s hit ‘867-5309/Jenny‘ – will be joining the tour for shows in select markets. This also feels like a tour that could have a random guest appear at any moment, meaning it is not one to miss!
